Road Type Definition Request

Hi chris,

Can we have a uniform road types defined for India like, example, a city limit road should be categorised under which type like primary street, minor highway, major highway, and so on....next As Waze have not given a option for 'flyover' (which is very common term used in India), and a bridge is supposed to be the road crossing the river (in Indian term) I may be wrong!

What I mean to say is let's jot down the types of road and defined it.

Ya on similar lines, but need to review it, as it was posted long back.

Frame work might not change but the detailing should be done.

Please go ahead and mark it as a Minor Highway. A similar procedure is being followed in Chennai, where arterial roads are updated as Minor Highways. And the roads, which link them to each other, are marked as Primary Streets.
Please ensure that you turn on the GPS Points before changing the road type. It will give you a very good idea of the amount of traffic using the road.
In India, All National Highways are Major Highways, and State Highways are Minor Highways again.
As you are in Maharashtra, while naming State Highways please use this format. MH-SH-**.
You might want to take a look at Chennai (The mapping is far from complete) to get a better idea. Use the GPS Points layer and compare the traffic density and the type of roads, which have been updated.

State Highways of India as Minor Highways of Waze
National Highways as Major Highways
Arterial roads (minor highways?) could be set as Primary Streets (that's what I've been trying to do here in Mumbai at least)
