Westies Cleaning up the west

Postby hisdad » Sat Nov 13, 2010 5:26 am

I proud to see that West Auckland is clean.
There must be a lots of OCD AM's there!

Central through, is a freak'n nightmare.
I'm working on it bit by bit as my enthusiasm permits.

I think its the poor cousin because few people are resident there.

None of the roads in the new Addision development in Takanini (Auckland) have been added, I've rollered a few roads but not all yet, I don't yet have access to edit any maps.

I might go for a drive with the kids and find some roads that need creating :) Could be fun.

Ok I have done quite alot of work on the Waikato expressway, and also on SH5 Napier - Taupo.

SH5 had large gaps which I was able to fix using GPS tracks, and also while all the roads were set to two-way, many of the juntions only allowed turns in one direction, effectively creating a one-way road.

Waikato Expressway was only partially complete, and was not routable north of Rangiriri. I was able to get most of the road sorted after driving it a few times myself, but not all the ramps are complete yet.

These changes are not showing on LiveMap yet, but should not be far away.

The whole of the kapiti coast is pretty outdated. Lots of roads that don't even feature.

On the weekend I drove down to Ruapehu, so today I have finished SH4 from Hamilton to Ohakune, and SH47 from National Park to Turangi. I also finished the Bruce Road up to Whakapapa Ski Field.

it's disappointing that Waze is stuck with Bing for imagery.. I've been working on some of the semi-rural roads around Hamilton, as well as some of the new sub-divisions. a bit slow-going with unreliable sources for street names.

tried recording the road out to Te Miro MTB track out the back of Cambridge today, lost cellphone coverage, and waze quickly got itself messed up loosing GPS signal as well... oh well, next time maybe. (windy, hilly back-country roads) - Sadly, Bing aerials are a blurry mess for big chunks of Waikato...
