[Update] Routing server

Post by deeploz
I've notice a change in the Routing server page that is, apparently, not related to a thread here in the Forum.

I just want to draw your attention on this change (concretely, this section deletion) and be sure that nobody has any reason to disapprove this deletion.

As we know, since a long time now, that the traffic timing information is stored in the junction node, regardless of the length of the segment, this old statement (that was already there when Cartouche was still alive) is obsolete.

The statement is false as wme would proportionally reapply the speed based on the new length. I'm happy to see false information deleted. Even better would be a section explain why it is false.

I agree there SHOULD be discussion BEFORE a change.

I am just starting I believe the change to be accurate.

I fail to understand how a GC can support wanton abandonment of the posted (in the forum, and the wiki) community accepted, guidelines for wiki editing etiquette. If the community has an agreed on a documented written process, it should be followed and supported by all in the community, especially the leadership who should lead by example. If the process if faulty, there should be community push agreement to change it, not disregard it.

It is still a wiki where everyone can contribute, it is only asked that people collaborate first to ensure the output is reflective of the community at large, and not relevant only to a small subset of people, or worse yet - inaccurate.

Even Wikipedia has a discussion (talk) area where edits can be hashed out before being published live. We in waze have chosen to use this forum for that propose instead of the wiki discussion space because of the benefits this platform provides for communication. But the etiquette is the same and it is still a community created and maintained wiki.

I am very unhappy about seeing this deleted without prior discussion in the forum.

Just today, there was a discussion of more than one hour length that no change should be made without prior discussion, even if it is correct. While I would still like the process to be written in detail, it makes sense to follow this rule.

Best regards,

Detlev
