Special Roads
Speed / Red Light Cameras
If a camera is a KNOWN speed camera, it should be documented in the map. A majority of the cameras in Kentucky are NOT speed or red light cameras and fit into the categories below and should NOT be placed in the editor.
There are cameras mounted on traffic signals that are used as part of the signal control. These compare sequential images of the intersection approach to determine if there is a vehicle (car, truck, motorcycle, bicycle, etc) waiting and will trigger the sequence. These devices CAN NOT issue tickets.
There are traditional traffic monitoring cameras covering most of the major highways in the state. These send live video to CT DOT & local media and serve ONLY as a traffic monitoring system.
There are NO known Speed or Red Light cameras active in Kentucky. All cameras in Kentucky can be deleted.
