The Team

Noam Bardin

By day, Noam helms the ship over here at waze, functioning as our fearless leader. But at night, once he's back home, the tables are turned. As a husband and father of two young girls, he's outnumbered - even the dog is a girl.

Maybe he likes these kind of challenging odds, having always enjoyed working at early-stage startups, and watching them grow. Prior to waze, Noam served as CEO of Intercast Networks and co-founded Deltathree, Inc. (NASDAQ: DDDC), a leading international VoIP service provider, where he served for 10 years in a variety of executive positions including as Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and VP of Operations.

Hailed as one of Business Insider's 100 Stars of Silicon Valley, Noam holds a B.A. in Economics from the Hebrew University and a Masters of Public Administration from Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government, where he started planning on how to save the world. He's since decided it will be one GPS point at a time.

Ehud Shabtai

Apparently, the whole thing started because Ehud wasn't very good at navigating his way to places. After being given a GPS system, he had some big ideas on how to improve the thing, and - poof! - the project that was to become waze was born.

An open-source enthusiast with a diverse background in infrastructure, development and numerous SW technologies, prior to waze, Ehud was a CTO with X.L.Net and before that held senior development positions in Ascent Pl and Comverse.

In his spare time Ehud likes watching and playing sports, checking out new gadgets and brushing up on the philosophy studies that he began in university. He holds a a B.Sc. in Computer Science and B.A. in Philosophy (cum laude), both from Tel-Aviv University.

Amir Shinar

If Amir didn't have 15+ years experience as a system architect, senior developer and R&D manager to contend with, he'd probably be a beach bum, spending most of his time relaxing by the sea. Instead, he runs the R&D department at waze, working for the weekends when he gets to spend time with his three young boys and navigate the waves via surfboard and/or sailboat.

Amir co-founded waze after founding and acting as CEO of X.L.Net Ltd., a customized software solution, and serving as a R&D manager in Comverse, specializing in open-source technologies.

Amir holds a B.Sc in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (Cum Laude) as well as M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, both from Minnesota State University. He's also a self-certified 'sweets' aficionado.

Fej (Yuval) Shmuelevitz

Fej's Hi-tech experience spans over 25 years, most of them writing source code which was later replaced with writing e-mails and endless conference calls (though he does maintain a Linux OS on his laptop).

Fej spent most of his career in Comverse, starting as a long-haired developer and finishing as VP product with 4 kids, 17 years later.

Fej holds a B.Sc in Math and Computer Science as well as an LL.B, both from the Tel-Aviv University and is a member of the Israeli Bar Association. To make his Mom happy, Fej added a Kellogg-Recanati EMBA as well. He has no current plans for additional studies (but you never know...)

Yael Elish

Maybe it was something about being born in Madagascar and moving every two years (to the Ivory Coast, then Portugal, then Mexico, then France, then the US...) that has made Yael love working in early stage startups. As an entrepreneur with 15 years of management and hands-on experience with consumer Internet start-ups, Yael still gets a thrill from starting fresh each time, building a product and business from the ground up...

Prior to joining waze, Yael founded and served as CEO of eSnips Ltd, a VC-funded web 2.0 service that quickly became the 30th most visited web 2.0 site and one of the 300 most visited sites on the Internet. Yael also held the role of VP of Strategic Development in the Sunnyvale-based free web-based email provider, Commtouch (CTCH).

Yael holds a B.S. in International Relations from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and is the mother of two pre-teen girls.

Di-Ann Eisnor

Di-Ann lives in Palo Alto, by way of Portland, Boston, New York City, and Amsterdam. Since moving to the Northwest, she has pressed apples, canned pickles and peppers (incorrectly), pressed wine, increased werewolf play and raised chickens.

Di-Ann is a neogeography pioneer, employing all means to increase the world's citizen mappers. In addition to being active in a few non-profits and showing her psychogeography-inspired art in the US and Europe, her entrepreneurial passions lie with community development, urban exploration, community cartography and social mapping - in fact, she believes social mapping to be a critical tool for cultural diplomacy.

Di-Ann functions as both Chairman of Platial, The People's Atlas, and as Community Geographer at Waze.

Samuel Keret

On the weekends, you'll find Samuel kite surfing, mountain biking, or doing some other sort of extreme sport, so it only makes sense that he works as our VP of Biz Dev - a field all about expanding into new horizons.

With a long history in the mobile field, Samuel's been on all sides of the game - working with mobile carriers, technology vendors and start ups – and today, he leads the charge in developing Waze's location-based advertising solutions with various international brands.

Samuel holds and LL.B. from the Hebrew University and an MBA from Bradford University in the UK.
