Identifying high-priority streets for maintenance services
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Rio geocoded 34,000 maintenance requests for potholes, tree management, drainage, paving, cleanliness, and public lighting over several months. Of the 7,000 streets identified, Rio used Waze data to identify 5,000 lower-traffic streets that could be shut down for several days of maintenance work.

  • In a program to address the most neglected areas by the administration, Rio chose the top 10 lower-traffic streets to service.
