The city of Winnipeg ran a marketing campaign to encourage citizens to download Waze utilizing advertisements and social media channels, including the mayor’s personal Twitter account. The resulting influx of Waze data in addition to information from 70 city cameras, empowered the Winnipeg Traffic Management Center to better direct drivers around congestion hotspots, syncing street lights and providing real-time updates to citizens.
