About MapMonitorBot (formerly ClosureMonitor)

Ok cool, can you check whats been going on around here a good few UR’s thanks
https://www.waze.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=375&t=226040

Also I guess you getting accident info etc from a feed so is the feed open to all as we can assume if its in the feed waze closed it

All current closures can be see on http://www.trafficengland.com/
Check the tabs along the top for different ways to see the data.

Drove passed this slip road today road was closed but Waze had it open Permalink

Elgin is showing the bridge carrying traffic from the A180(W) to the A160 is closed until 12th June. I’ve updated the map for that. It’s also showing the northbound A160 closed until 1600 2nd June, so I’ve added that too.

The Traffic England website is showing no roadworks affecting either the A180 or the A160 :frowning:

I dont think Elgin/roadworks.org is correct for this location, or its to general to me it just looked like a day closure as no signs indicating any further, i guess UR will come in if its open

More likely an email from the Closure Monitor. I’m not an area manager here - whoever is will get an alert.

Is there any record of the A46 near Warwick being closed overnight 16-17th June :?: There is nothing on Roadworks.org for continuing work, this should be covered by HE & therefore ClosureMonitor.

There was a closure of the preceding section of the A46, but no record of any closure of the entry ramp from A429.

When we receive an email from a user who is commenting about a closure not being there is there anyway we can PM or contact the reporter to tell them what action has been taken.

For example :- I had notification today from someone telling me that the road closure I put in place for the tunnels at LHR are not there.

This closure is correct and likely to be extended past the end of the year.

We can respond to UR comments… I think this would help if we could to reports.

If you can find the closure in the Waze app, you can comment back to the user there.

I have three turn not allowed URs at M60 J12 from last night? Was ClosureMonitor working ok, or wasn’t this feed through?

Looks like a routing issue, these were all closed from 22:00 to 5:00

https://www.waze.com/editor?env=row&lon=-2.36950&lat=53.48310&s=87553367&zoom=3&segments=207650716,123336697,162934213,180627459,162934224,123345380

the M62 URs routes would have been allowed if the route was coming off at J11, but the southbound M60 should have not been routed

All three URs (two users?) could have been routed down this separated carriageway - I don’t have any information whether this was closed or not.

Please can you check on this UR here logged at 20:28?

Looks like the driver was not allowed on the entry slip due to a closure, but according to ClosureMonitor it’s not due to close till 10pm.

Highways England website says: Location : The M56 westbound entry slip at junction J1 from A34. Reason : Roadworks. Status : Currently Active. Period : expect disruption until 05:00 on 14 September 2017. Lanes Closed : All lanes are closed. (This is at 21:43)

At 20:30, Highways England sent information about that closure with a start time of 10pm. shrug

FYI - the feed from Highways England failed at 13:40 on Friday. By the time it was noticed (sorry - we do have jobs), it was too late to shout at them, so it will likely be down all weekend.

In the 2 hours since the last post, I’ve manually added all the motorway closures from the HE website - only main carriageway closures as confirmed by matrix signs and nearly-zero speeds. Slip-only closures don’t appear on the main page I’m using and aren’t so easy to confirm.

I thought about the A-roads - but the list is far longer and the first is the A1: not the shortest of roads! That will have to do for tonight.

As a comment on the usefulness of Closure Monitor: I’ve found about half a dozen app-generated closures applying to closures I had come along to implement - and each of those would have been created by multiple users. I also found a UR for a closure I did the previous night (when the feed was also down), saying it was open. That demonstrates the other useful part of CM - the ability to re-open when the closures finish earlier. All HE Motorway closures seem to have an end time of 6am, but the chances of them all running until that time must be pretty slim.

On the subject of manually adding closures, would this then prevent CM from managing the closures on those segments if it came back to life whilst the manual closures were still in place?

This is something that’s also crossed my mind when seeing some closure MPs raised for roads which look as if they ought to be handled by CM, but where you don’t know for certain it will be. Should we ignore those MPs and assume CM will deal with them, or is it safe to manually add in the closures without it affecting CM’s ability to take over managing the closure if required?

Would it be advantageous to have a list of all segments or some other means of identifying sections of road which CM definitely can handle by itself?

I’m not sure. I have a bit of a mental block on the Closure Monitor interface - whenever I try to use it I only mess things up! It’s plainly me, since plenty of the other UK Champs are having no problem with it.

Definitely! In fact, if you could add something to WME OpenData, similar to the “Highlight PRN” option, that would be pretty fantastic.

I always check the Highways England network map if I’m unsure of adding a closure, other than the MP stating HE as the originator of course.

As for CM taking over a manual closure, I’ve had Tim remove closures on HE roads to ensure CM takes responsibility so I would say CM won’t take over a manual closure.
