Hi
Does anyone know anythign about the issue where you are routed correctly through a roundabout, but it displays a 0 (zero) in your client icon and says “At the roundabout, ______________”, without specifying how many turns or to turn right/left?
Hi
Does anyone know anythign about the issue where you are routed correctly through a roundabout, but it displays a 0 (zero) in your client icon and says “At the roundabout, ______________”, without specifying how many turns or to turn right/left?
Roundabout has become corrupted and needs rebuilding. Basically the routing server can’t count the exits properly.
I had this happen yesterday, and when I checked the map the roundabout had been given a street name…
This shouldn’t affect the integrity of the roundabout.
Not naming roundabout segments serves two purposes, 1) it saves screen clutter but more importantly 2) it ensures you are given the name of the road you should exit the roundabout on as you enter it (rather than the name of the roundabout which could be completely irrelevant)
I’ve had cases where invisible, orphan nodes (in Cartouche) can cause this to happen, even after the roundabout has been rebuilt.
Can you post a link to the roundabout in question?
Few times I have managed to fix the “take the 0th exit” problem. When I checked the roundabout I could find the problems like road-over-road or the geometry node of the roundabout segment placed so close to the end node that it produced totally insane angles with the connected segments or (I suppose) the angle could not be calculated due to division overflow/division by zero errors. Please consider the case when the geometry node is placed exactly over the end node, this makes the initial part of the segment zero length and the angle cannot be calculated.
Named roundabout should not be a problem. Many roundabouts in my area are named and their names are relevant and this never caused any problem. Also I have never seen the name of the roundabout as the navigation instruction. I think it could happened if whole road (all segments) between the previous turn and the roundabout was unnamed. And probably also if all roads after the roundabout until your destination were unnamed.
Anyway, please check the roundabout for a bad geometry. The roundabouts seem to be sensitive to the map problems. If this does not help you will have to delete the roundabout and create it again. You will need the area manager’s permissions to delete or ask the local area manager.
A few where I’ve seen it on the way home from work is where I’ve removed double entrance/exits to the roundabout where they are not required.
As I’ve noticed the tile edits processing has begun again, I’ll give it a few days to catch up and then look to rebuild them if need be.
Thanks for the info.
Would an intersecting road with a different level make a difference. If say the roundabout was 0 and the road was -1. Do levels make any difference to routing or is it just to tell the client how to display the objects when on top of each other?
Shouldn’t matter. Mainly there to tell the system no to auto-junction them and allow routing but if a junction already exists it doesn’t matter, eg a -5 segment would have no problem routing to a +9 segment if they’re connected properly.
The roundabout can be fully correct and have no issues and the client can still say this. I reported this several times during the v3 beta and it seems to have been fixed.
Not that the roundabout in question isn’t corrupted, but the client can say this for perfectly good roundabouts.
I’ve seen this a lot with roundabouts created in cartouche but only occasionally do Papyrus roundabouts do this. It normally only affects a particular entry and exit to the roundabout, ie a different approach or exit will work fine.
Usually an invisible orphaned node or a strange geometry issue causes this, but sometimes there seems no reason for it at all.
This can be a real PITA to fix, normally I’ll just delete it all and redraw it when I get one as it’s quicker than working out what the problem is … obviously this is not an option if you’re not an AM.
Well we’ll see if it sorts itself out, but if you want to check the roundabouts in question:
https://world.waze.com/cartouche/?zoom=5&lat=51.42819&lon=-0.89817&layers=BTFFFTTTTTTTTFTTTTT going bottom to left
https://world.waze.com/cartouche/?zoom=5&lat=51.41568&lon=-0.94809&layers=BTFFFTTTTTTTTFTTTTT going right to left
https://world.waze.com/cartouche/?zoom=7&lat=51.35885&lon=-0.9705&layers=BTFFFTTTTTTTTFTTTTT going top to bottom
I’ll give it a few days, then I’ll redraw the roundabouts, they’re all small ones and yes it is just from one entry point. I’ve also redrawn one a while ago and that sorted it, although I didn’t connect the dots at the time.
Do we know if tile edits updates are fully upto speed now and how long between edits and going live are we experiencing.
They are not. It appears tile updates are still being manually processed every few days. NA map is updated through 11/7. I don’t know what the edit cut-off date was for the 11/7 update.
GRRRR, got all excited because a number of updates that I’d done suddenly came to fruition. I made a change near where I work so once the change appears I’ll know how long it’s taking lmao.
On the world server, tile updates started again on Oct 30th. They processed 19 days of edits in about 9 days (so roughly the processing takes about 12 hours a day). The next batch was started Nov 8th, so that are 9-10 days to process, which means we can expect the next update Sunday or Monday. The next batches will get smaller and smaller, so if everything keeps running, we should be back at 24-48 hr cycles a week later.
… if everything keeps running, we should be back at 24-48 hr cycles a week later.
So much optimism!
Usually I am as well, but I am opting for realism these days. I’m not expecting full-speed until Christmas.
haha, don’t know if I asked in this thread, but any sight of Android v3?

2011 ?

They say ‘soon’…
Unfortunately we all know this does mean nothing at all… Could be a few days, could be a few months.
