Can someone talk to the editor about doing what he’s doing? I think I PM’d him but never heard back from him.
As far as I know, HavanaDay (and you) have PMd him with no reply.
I was thinking about asking HavanaDay to PM him since HD is kind of the King of the State. Oh well…
I’m getting up there in points & edits, but this editor still has a lot of seniority over me. I PM’d him to thank him for something completely different a few weeks ago and got a response literally 5 minutes later.
The Road Type of these connectors really does matter. I’ve seen Waze ignore a connector in favor of routing through a restricted turn at the main intersection. Apparently the penalty for going to a lower Road Type can be stiffer than the penalty for taking a restricted right turn.
Last week I changed a connector in Brier Creek and included a walking trail (so it wouldn’t show on the client) pointing to the connector with the wiki URL as the street name. The connector was changed back to a Street yesterday and the walking trail was deleted.
I’ve done it again but I tried to make the walking trail a little more obvious:
Here’s a permalink to the intersection:
https://www.waze.com/editor/?zoom=8&lat=35.90159&lon=-78.79042&layers=BFTFFTTTTTTFTFTTFTTTTFT
(and the google shortcut I created just goes to that same wiki entry: http://goo.gl/msNTa)
I think Walking Trail DOES show on the client. Railroad does not.
Good to know - I changed the Road Types to Railroad.
Thanks, I have been playing around with using arrows to make notes on “problem” areas too. Good to know that I should use railroad. Also is there any “landmark” type that won’t show up on the client?
Landmarks - Not that I recall off hand. But very small ones will not display. Some people have been doing that to record time based turn restriction notes on intersections.
Keep in mind that Waze could start including railroads in the client maps at any time, so try to limit or at least keep track of where you put notes ![]()
