What about Inner Mongolia? It doesn’t have that many roads and cities, but it still have major big city like Hohhot, and middle size cities such as Baotou. Which means it has a variety range of road types for city and rural, may cover almost all the road types in China.
As the similar condition, Shaanxi and Gansu might be the alternative option. Shaanxi is the geographical centre of China, but right now, its capital city Xi’an has high finished in the map. Gansu is a pathway from East and Middle of China to the West, improve its map edit may help improve the West of China
Agree with your view, looking for a city without a regional administrator.
But this city is not necessarily everyone has been, we still need to determine which map must be based on what?
My current naming of road names and city names is:
Road name way:
1 Chinese name or 2 Chinese name space Chinese Pinyin Rd [or St]
City Name:
One in the known case,
1 city name in the main city at least to the district, if there are towns in the district on the classification to the town or street (the street is an administrative organization, not the road)
2 city name in the main city outside at least to the county, if you can, then should be subdivided into the township / town
Two names are written
1 Chinese city name Chinese district name [Chinese town name] space [Pinyin town name], Pinyin district name, Pinyin City name
For example: 北京市朝阳区 Chaoyang,Beijing
2 Chinese city name Chinese county name [Chinese town name or Chinese name] [Chinese village name] Space [Pinyin village name], [Pinyin town name or name], Pinyin County name, Pinyin City name
For example: 巴中市通江县诺江镇 Nuojiang,Tongjiang,Bazhong
3 Minority areas recommend the addition of local languages such as Tibetan, Mongolian and Korean
For example: 白山市长白朝鲜族自治县 Changbai,Baishan 백산시, 창 바이 조선족 자치현
If the street has a name, we must fill in the name. If we do not fill in the street name, Waze will announce the next street name. It will cause the direction wrong.
It is mainly for the search purpose. There are many streets with the same name. City/State name will be used to distinguish your actual destination from another.
Back to the Mapraid. We need someone volunteer to tidying up the guidelines. Can anyone do that? As we will have foreigners to help so we need Chinese and English version.
Yes, I always tend to find out the names of roads, and mark them on. only a few roads without names, I mark with “no name”. But I found in my area, there is some editors who edit lots and lots of roads, even an unpaved rural road, but they do not mark road names for them, even though the roads in city centre with certain names.
We have a lower grade road than 县道(Country Road), which is called 乡道. This grade of road does have road code such as “107乡道”, but does not have abbreviation with English letters.
Moreover, how do we balance the use of “long name” and “short name” of State Highway, Provincial Highway, and Country Road?
Oh, one more thing, I notice that the guide of road types in colours in this link is incorrect.https://wiki.waze.com/wiki/道路类型
freeways should be purple, major highway should be blue, minor is green and ramp is gray.
