What about Inner Mongolia? It doesn’t have that many roads and cities, but it still have major big city like Hohhot, and middle size cities such as Baotou. Which means it has a variety range of road types for city and rural, may cover almost all the road types in China.
As the similar condition, Shaanxi and Gansu might be the alternative option. Shaanxi is the geographical centre of China, but right now, its capital city Xi’an has high finished in the map. Gansu is a pathway from East and Middle of China to the West, improve its map edit may help improve the West of China

关于道路名称，我记得去年有一个讨论，大概结论就是，鉴于大陆道路路名普遍没有准确的官方翻译，所以不建议填写英文路名，只以中文路名作为标识。在那之后我的编辑也是以这个为原则的。
关于城镇名称，好像没有一个较为共识的认定，我，还有我看到的不少的一部分编辑者，采用的是“城镇名 City/town Name”的简单编辑方式
即 黄石市编辑为“黄石 Huangshi”
浔阳区编辑为“浔阳区 Xunyang”
浮梁县编辑为“浮梁县 Fuliang”
小池镇编辑为“小池镇 Xiaochi”
然后，我个人将县级市分开编辑，与地级市相比多加上了一个“市”字，如瑞昌市编辑为“瑞昌市 Ruichang”
整个编辑中并不罗列太多的层级，以免名称过于冗长。
在碰到抚顺市抚顺县 或 承德市承德县 时就麻烦了
就写到县级，镇、村、街道这些就选取附近的一条道路来填写就行了
这确实是个问题，虽然中国现在在进行将母县撤并和更名的行动，但是不可能一下子将全部的名称都改完
镇、乡作为一个标准行政区，应该还是需要有正式命名的。
村的话，会比较麻烦，因为不是标准行政区，可能前后几里地的村民叫本地的名字都会不一样，标注名称确实会有一点麻烦。
我看其他国家的地图编辑，村庄和城市内的街道（suburb）都是有标注名称的。
而我有一个非常强烈的建议是，不要在城区外的郊区道路上标注城市名称，而且，尽量都给道路标注上路名，以便未来修改！
同意，连接城区－县城－乡镇－村 的道路不宜标注城市名称，但是城区＼县城＼乡镇＼村等聚集区内部还是要标注城市（区县乡镇村）的名称的．

这其实是一个人为制造麻烦的情况。填写“无”作为路名，和不填写，本质上没有太大的区别。后者是完全不能一次选取整段路，前者是一次选取所有路段包括所有岔路。
街道你是如何认为的，也需要标注出名称吗？还是不需要标注？

It is mainly for the search purpose. There are many streets with the same name. City/State name will be used to distinguish your actual destination from another.

Yes, I always tend to find out the names of roads, and mark them on. only a few roads without names, I mark with “no name”. But I found in my area, there is some editors who edit lots and lots of roads, even an unpaved rural road, but they do not mark road names for them, even though the roads in city centre with certain names.
We have a lower grade road than 县道(Country Road), which is called 乡道. This grade of road does have road code such as “107乡道”, but does not have abbreviation with English letters.
Moreover, how do we balance the use of “long name” and “short name” of State Highway, Provincial Highway, and Country Road?

freeways should be purple, major highway should be blue, minor is green and ramp is gray.

对于不知道名称的道路，不是把道路命名为＂无＂，而是选择了＂无＂这个选项．
因为这些道路必须选择＂无＂，否则就是未编辑道路
我的习惯是标注城市（区县乡镇）的名称
我也是一直标注到乡镇级别，村庄迄今没有标注过，不过有标注一些和乡镇同级，甚至更高级开发区，农林场之类。
不过城市内的“某某街道”是和乡镇同级别的行政单位，我不确定是否应该标注。我看国外标注suburb和neighborhood的情况比较普遍。
不过至少在中国，同一个区内，不同街道内，倒不会出现Leo提到的同路名的存在。甚至一个城市内都很少出现。
