Saying Goodbye to Project Orca (now we have Biggs)

Hi everyone,

It’s time to say goodbye to “Project Orca,” and we want to say a HUGE THANK YOU for your incredible contributions to the Geo portfolio.

“Project Orca” was a fundamental tool for demonstrating the power of the Waze editor community and the immense value of your hyperlocal knowledge for Geo products in general. By identifying you as highly trusted users, we were able to prove that our community’s local expertise significantly improves the quality and approval rate of POI edit suggestions.

It was precisely the success of “Orca” that paved the way for a more integrated and streamlined process: Project Biggs.

If you are L5 or L6 and haven’t yet opted to participate in Project Biggs, we invite you to do so NOW!
Orca will officially be closed on Thursday, June 11, 2026.

What does this mean for you?

  • Although we are decommissioning Project Orca to avoid duplication of processes, all the benefits you have earned will remain valid.
This means that while Project Biggs currently focuses on allowing you to edit places directly in the Waze Map Editor (WME), you will continue to maintain your “highly trusted user” status on Google Maps. Additionally, you will still be able to create new places on Google Maps in the same way you did during the Orca period.

This transition represents an important milestone in making our community’s expertise an integrated part of the Geo ecosystem.

Thank you for helping us demonstrate everything Wazers are capable of!

By: Hezi, on behalf of the Waze Communities Team.
