Discussion: /USA/Places/Gas_station#Stop_Point

I would like to discuss a small change to the gas station “stop point” location section of our wiki https://wazeopedia.waze.com/wiki/USA/Places/Gas_station#Stop_Point. It is now called an entry point (https://wazeopedia.waze.com/wiki/USA/index.php?title=Places&mobileaction=toggle_view_desktop#Entry_point) and not a stop point. I also think that best guidance for the user would have the entry point on the pumps and not on the PLR. “On the PLR” has too much of a chance to give a bad “your destination is on the right/left” instruction. Putting the entry point where it would be an actual location (fuel pumps) would put those directions in the best location for most users.

I agree that it should be changed to Entry Point instead of Stop Point now.

I also agree that “on the PLR” is not good guidance, I would support either on the pumps or the convenience store.

I agree with the suggested change for national guidance. Placing the entry point on the pumps is exactly what SER has been doing for years and something we have on our wiki page. This change will allow us to remove that statement.

I would have to dig back, but wasn’t it previously on the pumps? I remember learning that years ago because I wasn’t a huge fan of it at the time. Just wondering when the change happened and why. Or maybe it wasn’t in the wiki and just something I was taught at, but I’m fairly certain I read it there.

I actually don’t think it was ever in the wiki, just how most people were taught.

I agree that having the EP at the pumps is logical since it’s the part of the gas station that most Wazers visit, but assuming a typical gas station site plan the EP should be toward the building side of the PLR at the pump island as opposed to the main road side so the “your destination will be on the left/right” will make more sense to the user.

I know this is a bit of an old thread, but as a new-ish editor, this change would be pretty helpful. I was also instructed as mentioned above, but when I go to look at the wiki for a refresh it leads to confusion. What would be necessary to get a change like this pushed through?
