Downtown LA construction closure 4th St and Hewitt St

In downtown LA at the intersection of East 4th Street, East 4th Place, and South Hewitt Street, there is a triangular median island that is being reconstructed resulting in the temporary closure of all the gaps/lanes that cut through that median space.

What this affects currently:

●Eastbound traffic on the one-way East 4th Street can not make the sharp left turn onto westbound East 4th Place during construction.

●Northbound traffic on South Hewitt Street can only turn right onto East 4th Street during construction(whereas it used to also be able to go through the median and turn left on westbound East 4th Place).

Thanks for the post. Any idea how long it’s going to be this way?

Link to location to find it easily.

No indication how long it will be closed. Probably a week or two based on the pace of other construction activities in the area. I will reply when it changes again.

Thanks. I put turn closures in through the end of the month.

the traffic restrictions have all been removed from the intersection now.

Thanks for the heads up. The closures have been removed.

I took a closer look, and the closures are all removed, but part of the traffic flow also changed. They filled in the lane that ran through the middle of the traffic island so that northbound traffic on S. Hewitt St can no longer go through that intersection and turn left onto Westbound East 4th Place.

Thanks for the detail. I have put some closures in place to help with that, and made long term changes as well.
