Hey all- I’m slowly learning the editing game and really enjoying it. I saw a request near downtown that is labeled “wrong direction.” I spoke with the reporter (you can see it on his report) and he stated that routing sent him left although its a 1 way. I can’t seem to see anything wrong with the road segments. Can someone with higher clearance take a look and let me know what you think? I suppose that it’s possible he was coming out of the parking garage and “spinning” down a ramp, perhaps the system hadn’t caught up with where he was yet, or had a bad gps fix being in a parking garage?
I was looking at this issue too, since I recently drove the same route out of the Hawthorn ramp using the same route that the reporter did. Waze gave me correct directions (to turn left on 10th) - the ramp exit is across from Currie Ave. When I was higher up in the ramp, it appeared Waze thought I was on Currie. If that same GPS error happened to the reporter, Waze’s directions to turn right on 10th would make sense.
What is the best practice for mapping parking lot roads inside of ramps? Encouraged, discouraged? I’m wondering if the GPS error could be mitigated by giving Waze a route to grab onto inside the ramp, vs searching on the adjacent streets. Obviously GPS error will still be an issue.
