Edinburgh City Centre Tram works finished -map updated?

Hi Guys,

Now that the tram works in Edinburgh city centre have finished, I just wondered if the map has been suitably updated to revert all of the changes made in these areas?

I ask as I was navigating into the centre of Wednesday, and it was still routing around the roundworks around the Palmerston Pl area, but they had gone.

I know I know. Not yet. I’ve been liaising with my Council contact to get the official map info. Should be updated over the weekend!

Hey Darren,

My post was not a hurry up or finger pointing, just wanted to know if it was in hand, that’s all.

I opened the editor last night to make a start then realised I had no idea what was being reinstated!

I’ve updated some of the segments in the area I drove through on Wed to reflect what I saw, but like you I don’t have a complete picture of what it looks like now.

I had a walk around the whole area today and updated per what I recorded. Some of the back streets like Manor Place are still not fully re-instated so just need to keep an eye

Main thing I couldn’t do was permit Queensferry St -> Charlotte Sq, that’s a L5 lock.

Is that definitely enabled now? Don’t think it was when I was there on Wednesday.

Yup. The signage on the approach is a little inconsistent due to the number of changes over the past few years (‘local access only’ still persists) but once you arrive at the junction there’s no physical obstruction and the temporary signage directs general traffic left.

I’ll get confirmation from the council

Now we’ve got time-restrictions it would be possible to route down Shandwick Pl and Princes St after 8pm. Obvious, big time savings for journeys but it would take a brave person to drive past the signs that say ‘loading only 8pm-7am’ when really they mean ‘buses only 7am-8pm’. I don’t think I’ve ever done it :?

It’s still not legal to drive through them so time restrictions shouldn’t be used.

I don’t see how a waiting restriction can be used to enforce access. It seems the intent is different from the signage

I’ll find out the council’s view.

I wonder how long it will take the ‘GPS Points’ overlay to adapt? No lines at all!
