Per the FL DOT, they are primarily available (Eastern time), as follows:
• 6:00am to 9:00pm Monday - Friday
• 7:00am to 7:00pm Saturday
• Not available on Sundays
It seems to work better with Internet Explorer. Chrome is the only other browser I have tried.
Please note functional classification is not yet approved for use, but I’m just trying to get ahead of the curve by letting all know where it is. It is not easy to find.
EDIT 26May14. The FC system as described here is approved for use in the Southeast states.
The maps are likely not meant for public consumption, but for transportation professionals; hence, perhaps they don’t think there is a need to keep it online 24x7?
Anyone working on FC, Please do not use the Enterprise IMap on FDOT’s site. It is outdated. Please download the Functional Classification file and open it with ArcGis or QGIS. I’d be more than happy to guide anyone with any questions involving those maps.
Anyways, I can always provide a kmz file of the classification map as my work has ArcGIS and the program allows for conversion to KML / KMZ. I don’t know why FDOT doesn’t provide it in this format as it’s a layer file with spreadsheets. However, I would have to state what the color lines mean and you have to turn off Roads in Google Earth to prevent getting confused.
I have dual monitors haha but yeah I figured the conversion to KML. ArcGIS doesn’t make it easy as it pushes KMZ without saving the data of the segments if you try to convert to KML.
