As many other users I experience a short battery life in my car using a “standard” 12V to USB adapter.
I suggest a “HOLD”-function which temporarely put WAZE in a sleeping mode e.g. all or most battery hungry functions are put on hold until you need assistance. Any comments?

Waze uses the GPS, the data connection & the screen constantly. It is constantly sending and receiving data to the servers - speed info, reports, etc. A “Hold” mode would defeat the crowd sourcing model of Waze.

It’s also well documented that we suggest at least a 1Amp car charger and having your phone plugged in while using Waze.

And as noted by other app developers, the display chews up a significant percentage of battery life.

Thanks all for info! Will try to find a better charger than the 1A 12\>USB I used on last trip.
Waze is a great app.

Some alleged 1A chargers don’t actually deliver that much. Also make sure your phone is actually using the 1A you’re giving it. It might have to be convinced it’s on a wall charger. I have a Samsung phone. In one car I have a charger that connects to the pogo pins. In the other I have a Motorola charger I found on Amazon that gives it a full amp.

There’s plenty of good and cheap 2, 3 and some 4A car chargers available.

I use an iSound charging device which is one if many remote USB charging units out there. Granted, it’s another device to keep handy (and charged, itself), but it does the trick nicely.

Cheers.
