Under ‘Sound’ on my Android I see:
-Navigation guidance (set to ‘English (US) (Samantha)’)
-Prompts Volume (bar slider)
-Play sound to phone speaker (On/off)
What you have checked under Settings>General>Language?
I see choices under Settings-Sound- Navigation guidance, but the only ones that seem to work are Samantha and Tom. Suggestion for activating the others please.
Android 4.4.2. Waze 3.9 on LG G3
If you want voice which would say streets names, only “Samantha” and “Tom” have this option in English. But i don’t know if someone uses it… There are plenty more picks if you don’t need option to hear street name.
google waze voice packs download folders to your PC if they have a bin extension renamed to mp3 each file
connect your iPhone go to iTunes search for waze files save it to your desktop the “song” folder
inside you will find some folders with voices that you downloaded in your phone go inside of one folder don’t rename the folder, replace all the content files with the voice u want
in iTunes delete de sound folder and save to your phone the one you have in your desktop sync and that’s it
Once you download the voice pack you want to use, navigate to the folder on your device where the voice packs are kept (mine is under storage /emulated /0/waze /sound. Pick a voice you don’t want or use, open that folder, and delete all the files it contains but KEEP THE FOLDER! now go to the folder where your downloaded voice is and copy all the .bin files inside, then paste them in the folder you emptied. DO NOT RENAME THE FOLDER! Finally, simply open the waze app, go to menu, settings, sound, navigation settings, and select the voice whose files you replaced. Voila! Your navigation prompts should be spoken in your new voice.
That does not matter. I’ve used waze for 3 years and had all kinds of voices (android) suddenly I have none. My wife and daughter on apple phones have the voices. And if location matters, why? Why would waze programmers suddenly decide to be ass holes to people not in the US. I’m not even talking about the limited edition voices that they are getting paid big bucks to feature in order to advertise a movie, product or restaurant.
This is an old thread, so it contains references to the Nuance USA TTS voices, Samantha and Tom, which were deprecated when Waze moved to Google for its TTS. The default USA voice is now Jane. Note that after an install or reset, it sometimes takes a while (minutes or hours) for the app to begin offer the TTS voices as options.
Have your recent problems persisted? There have been some issues with certain clients connecting to the TTS server for the past week or so (I’ve personally experienced a number of drives with some or all road names missing from prompts, and on devices where I’ve tried resets or reinstallations, I’ve gotten stuck at various stages of “Preparing Navigation Voice”). If everything’s not back to normal yet, I suggest that you try just being patient for a few more days, while Waze gets things sorted out on the server side. One of my phones, which just yesterday didn’t offer Jane as a voice option, is now working properly, without any further action on my part.
