Hi All,
There is a particular user that seems to be logging a LOT of bogus roadwork reports.

I know this because there has been quite a few that have been reported within a couple of hours and I happen to drive past where the said report has been submitted, to find no such work going on.

Roadworks are never ever resolved within hours in this country - especially the sort of reports that are being submitted.
E.G Excavate joint bays and track.

This means moving electricity cables.

This kind of work needs planning and I’ve checked with local authorities and no such plans have been made nor filed.

So, how do you deal with bogus users reporting false events?

Let me guess, would this user be called “Elgin” by any chance? If so, these are automated reports generated by the Elgin system from the same data feed as is used to populate the [roadworks.org](http://roadworks.org) site, and there’s a thread running [here](https://www.waze.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=55&t=146014) for discussing the pros and cons of these reports.

We are working with Waze to improve the accuracy of roadwork reports. If you could say roughly where you’re seeing them, we’ll add it to the list.

Elgin! That’s the one.

Manchester (UK) is quite ‘badly’ affected.

Don’t know if this a combination of the latest update, elgin integration or something else, but manual reports I’ve submitted don’t seem to be ‘sticking’.
I’ve reported major roadworks on a route I take, yet several hours later, the report has gone.

The way I understand the reporting feature in the App is as follows.

When you submit a hazard, accident, police, etc in App, Waze will add a marker which will last for approx 60 minutes on the map. If another Wazer gives it the ‘thumbs up’ the marker time gets extended by a limited time. If another Wazer selects ‘not there’ then the marker is removed from the map.

For a report to last several hours it would require a lot of other Wazers to be keeping it active as it were.
