Ilchester

So I know it’s been some time since the original post, But i’m trying to figure out what to do with the City Ilchester, As I’ve never heard of it.

After Reading through the Posts and looking at the USPS zip-code for that area 21043. I see that the post office recognizes it BUT says “Please use the default city whenever possible. -> ELLICOTT CITY MD”. Howard County Zip Code map

Soo… Should we use the Zip Codes borders as city borders to avoid rural areas? And sticking with the preferred city makes for less confusion.

As I wonder around and look at business on google maps there seems to be a grey line between Elkridge and Ellicott, with no business using the Census data and Ilchester. It seems any business off of Montgomery Rd clams to be in Elkridge, as any business off of Ilchester Rd clams to be in Ellicott (On the business’s website)

Are there specific destination searches that are not working when using Ilchester?

So far for consistency, we should all follow this guidance: https://wiki.waze.com/wiki/Maryland#Cities_and_towns

But, we can certainly discuss and adjust to solve any issues.

Well the Town Ilchester dose not exist except in census records. When looking at business in the area and seeing what they post on their company websites they ether come back as Elkridge or Ellicott.

Some examples:
Belmont Manor & Historic Park census: Ilchester actual: Elkridge
Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church census: Ilchester actual: Ellicott
Trinity School census: Ilchester actual: Ellicott
Mayfield Woods Middle School census: Ilchester actual: Elkridge

I Really just want to remove Ilchester totally.

Understood.

But when I search for those examples, I get good results. I guess I’m questioning whether its worth it to remove Ilchester, if its not really causing any problems.

Continuing, I agree with the Chevy Chase example but try Google Maps - zips 20901 thru 20906, all Silver Spring from dntn to the ICC, Conn. to 29 and everything in between. Yet there are a lot of areas such as Wheaton, Aspen Hill, Hillandale, White Oak, Colesville within that are better referred to as such. I consider Silver Spring just the greater dntn area inside 495.
