Hi Fellow Wazers,
I’m from SW Sydnay and started on Waze in Feb 22. I liked the idea of live updates on maps to help with my commute and for me to be able to repay others with live info that I find on my commute.
I thought that I'd step things up with my contributions by learning how to edit maps and help a little more than the average user especially when I see some of the unusual route suggestions that Waze makes.
My main aims are to help people from getting from A  B and most importantly, not getting them lost :? or ending up in a lake
You’re certainly in the right place if you want to edit maps and help others - that’s all we do here :D. There’s so much to learn, and it can take a bit of time, but if you’re willing to invest, we’re willing to teach you.
We’re a community of volunteer map editors, we edit the map to keep it up to date, fix errors and help people get home quickly/safely.
I very highly recommend you join the Waze Australia Discord server (link in my signature below) so you can chat in real-time with the rest of our editors. I also recommend you sign up to request a mentor to help you learn the ropes.
Im Bronzy37 from Perth and now I am WFH thought I would jump onboard and help edit maps. Have requested many map edits when driving so thought would jump on the other end to help fix them.
Havent made any edits yet but cant wait to make my first one.
Check out the Discord channel too which is where editors also hang out. You can chat with other editors and connect with people in your local area too.
I’m Tim and live in Grafton NSW. I’m a waze user and evangelist haha! Been using it for a long time.
I’m also a perfectionist and love all things spatial, so I’m keen to help as editor.
Hey Tim! A Wazer and perfectionist? You sound like the perfect map editor!
We’re always looking for new editors to help us out, especially in the often neglected country. Could you make sure you join the Waze Australia Discord server (link in my signature below) and connect with other volunteer map editors? We’re happy to help you learn how to edit, and we can unlock segments for you to edit. Everyone is super friendly.
Waze is shortly introducing a feature that’ll make editing as a new editor feature and won’t require you to request constant lock/unlock requests. Now is certainly a good time to start editing
Well I haven’t made a post in here yet so here I go!
Hi, I’m Edward, better known as DeviateFromThePlan. I’m an editor from the Toowoomba Region (Qld). I like dirt roads, going on drives, Geocaching and cyclones to name a few. I’ve been getting into script development recently, hopefully that goes somewhere.
Im Jay (muterecord). Been using waze for sometime now, unfortunately ive had to start a few new accounts on waze due to not remembering my logins. Hoping to be able to contribute to keeping waze updated and making it a more enjoyable and easy journey out and about on western australian roads.
Thanks for the discord mentoring and advice so far.
I enjoy getting off the bitumen and onto the dirt tracks and beaches, getting out and exploring the great west australian country side.
Very nice to meet you and a huge welcome to our community WA is certainly in need of some love. Poor @MiniDooper just about looks after it by himself. He’s the state manager for WA - make sure you connect with him and see where you can best help
Hi Elliott - thank you for introducing yourself and welcome to The Waze Editing Community - Australia. It’s a very active and collborative community where everyone if very willing to help. There’s lots to learn but its super fun. We use Discord which make learning and editing that much easier. Our wiki is now also on Discuss at Main Page and a link to get on Discord is at Waze Australia Discord server. Hope to see you over there soon!
My name is Will (aka McKrakenAU (waiting for my account name to update)), I did do some map editing on my old Waze account but lost access to that account when my old old old phone decided it didn’t like water (can’t blame it).
I’ve recently started editing again and looking to contribute more.
Currently working on getting my workplace on board with Waze, as I’ve gotten our Waze for Cities account approved and now looking to get it incorporated into our daily operations as the Road Maintenance Contractor for the Western Roads Upgrade in Melbourne, which currently has ~15 years remaining in its maintenance phase.
My name is Abhishek, aka Abhi. I work in CyberSecurity domain and have been using Waze for few months now. I loved the platform to the extent that I did my first Waze basics course via Waze Academy and looking forward to contributing back to the community. I am based in Geelong area and very excited for this volunteering opportunity.
G’day! Welcome Abhi. We appreciate all the help. Come and join us on Discord, that’s where all the Aussie editors sit and chat. Link is in my signature below. Can’t wait to see you around the map
Hi there Paul!
Thanks so much for the intro and welcome! It great to have another editor to keep an eye on improvements - I relate so much to the time poor . I can see the community has already been helping you map speed bumps and yes they are locked to Level 2 editors.
We have a great deal of support info on our wiki - here’s a page to specific lock levels in Australia Country Specific Permissions
You are also welcome to join us over in Discord where you can make the same requests as you have in Waze Discuss - whatever suits your style - its a lot easier to collaborate over there. Cant remember whether link is in my sign off - but up above its in Brendan’s sign off
