Issue Tracker

Activate & filter issues in the WME Issue Tracker

The Waze Map Editor (WME) Issue Tracker is a tool designed to help map editors efficiently manage and resolve user and system reported issues. By providing a centralized platform for tracking and addressing these concerns, the Issue Tracker ensures that the Waze map remains accurate, up-to-date, and reliable.

The Issue Tracker displays 4 types of “issues”:

  • Update Requests (URs): Issues reported by Wazers on their route such as, wrong driving instructions or disallowed turns
  • Place Update Requests (PURs): Issues reported by Wazers on specific places or businesses, including place names, pictures, opening hours, and more
  • Map Problems (MPs): Issues flagged by Waze’s system when it detects discrepancies between the real world and the map data
  • Map Suggestions (MSs): Provides data on possibly missing segments

Got questions?

How many issues are shown per page in the feed?

Up to 30. If there are more than 30 issues, you can find them by clicking at the bottom of the feed.

Can I share a specific issue with another editor?

Yes. To do this:

  1. Select the issue’s card
  2. Click
  3. Share using the permalink options:
  • Coordinates
  • Through the forum

Note: This will only share the issue card, like shown below. At this time, we will not share filters with the receiver.

Can we rename our areas from the Issue Tracker?

Although you cannot rename areas from the Issue Tracker itself, you can ask your community coordinators, GCs or LCs to request an AM rename. We have a process in place that was shared with them.

What else is planned for the Issue Tracker that hasn’t been released?

Here’s a list of upcoming and already released new features:

  • Compact mode for filters panel: Save space with a more compact layout
  • Filter indication and reset: Clearly see active filters and easily reset them
  • Sort issues by oldest first: View issues in chronological order
  • Issue location information: Display city and address for each issue

What is the UR type: Blocked road?

These reports are generated by Waze users in the app:

Why do I see UR types that aren’t in my country’s reporting menu?

This is due to localization differences. Reports may appear with different names in various regions. For instance, “incorrect turn” in Israel is similar to “turn not allowed” in North America. Additionally, “missing exit” is a report type not available in Israel but is present in North America.

How do I refresh the issues list?

To refresh the issues list, click the refresh button at the top of the feed.

What happened with SLURs?

Taking into consideration the low number of SLURs we receive (One per day in ROW, 0.5 per day in IL and 6 per day in NA), and the usefulness of this report in its current state, together with future capabilities that other features will provide related to speed limits, we believe the best course of action at this time is to remove this UR type from the reporting menu of the app and consequently not show speed limit update requests as part of the new Issue Tracker.

We arrived at this decision by considering that if we show SLURs in the Issue Tracker, we would need to invest in a revamp of the design as well, and allocate engineering resources away from other features in the pipeline that we believe will bring more value to the Community and Waze map.

More information has been shared with the Coordinators and the WME Beta Pirates.
