L4 - E411 Exit in Bouge

Could you please unlock this segment ?

Actually, this roundabout is “cut in half” to disallow round trips, so you have to cross the bridge and go to the other roundabout to make the road trip.
This is a “temporary test”, but it is in place for more than one year now so I believe it should be made permanent.
In the discussion about this routing problem, users are bothered by the fact that whenever the roundabout is corrected, changes are rolled back soon after. How can we avoid that ?

Thanks !

some of the connecting segments are lvl5 (so I gonna keep my hands off for now)

just a thinking, if it is only half a roundabout… maybe we should de-roundabout it? or a high enough lock with a NOTE around?

Sure, that would probably be the best solution, but it would make a somehow complicated network.
Also, I believe that routing instructions would be better with roundabout instructions (take exit), instead of normal road instructions (turn right), because in fact it still looks exactly like a roundabout, they’ve just cut it with roadwork blocs so you can’t make a full circle. Otherwise it looks like a roundabout when you enter it.

does it still have a ‘roundabout’ sign ?

(also thinking I can make a red arrow in a lock 4-segment of the roundabout itself, partly solved)

Yes, that was what I had in mind (red arrow towards the next segment).
I can’t tell you if it still has roundabout signs. They probably removed them, but the current road signs are temporary ones (i.e. orange signs, just like during roadworks).
I don’t know what’s best in that case. We can’t leave it as is though, routing is just plain wrong.

maybe…

What about this kind of solution?

two intersegments with non-drivable roadtype? (but I need a lvl5+ editor to aid)

Looks good, but the south west exit is “roundaboutable” That’s why I say it really looks like a roundabout, you can make a 180° turn, but not a full turn.
Your solution for the north east exit looks very good.

that’s why I would keep it a true roundabout, but with two segments not-major highway/pedestrian? and correction of arrows - it would be visible that situation is different for every editor (I hope)

let’s see what the lvl 5+'s think

P.S. the problem is: a simple QW allready makes the red arrows green again :frowning:

What’s a QW (I’m missing some editor jargon I believe  )

a QW are the key-combination we use to …
actually, it is explained here

Ahah OK thanks

I don’t really see the problem or a reason to change it… The TR’s are set correct and the situation is already like that for more than 2 months…
Before that, it was also indeed already like that, but wasn’t locked properly and changed by an editor, by mistake…

It doesn’t exactly graphicaly reflect the situation like it is, but in case of routing and instructions it should be ok.

Yes steven, the TR has been added since my request, it was not there before (i.e. it was a real roundabout).

From the conversations on this error report, it seems that some editors keep reverting the changes back and remove the TR (with a QW as annickdw mentionned ?).
So We were wondering whether a small change in the network would help editors understand that this TR is intentional and prevent them from “correcting” it.

Also one of the commenters say that the TR could be ignored by the navigation ??? I don’t understand what he means by that. The conversation is in French, but maybe you should have a look ?

I can’t see something has changed, since all segments were lastly edited by me, in the beginning of december…
If even a lock L4 doesn’t help, we should lock it lvl5, so it attracts some attention to the situation.

In very rare situations, it can happen a TR is ‘ignored’ because the penalty isn’t high enough… Routing is based on a penalty system, as i already described yesterday or some days ago, in one of these topics… You can also read about it on the wiki…

OK thanks for the explanations.
Lock L5 might help indeed.
They’ll probably decide that this solution was better than the old roundabout anyway, and make the changes permanent.
Let’s hope they’ll not screw it, and we might then have to change the network.
