I may have originally posted this in the wrong forum, so I am posting it here, too:
Here is the PermaLink: https://www.waze.com/editor/?zoom=5&lat=38.60739&lon=-77.30649&layers=TBFTFFTTTTFTTFTTTFTFTTTTFT&segments=62743831
On Northbound I-95, between Dumfries and Dale City, there is a northbound entrance ramp to HOV. This entrance ramp is just before the Cardinal Drive overpass. For the past few days, Waze has attempted to route me onto HOV, even though the HOV restrictions were in effect. Additionally, when I did not make the merge onto HOV, Waze failed to recognize that I was still on the main lanes. I even moved to the farthest lane from HOV to try to force Waze to see that I was not on HOV. I eventually had to restart my navigation.
I noticed there was a recent change to the HOV lanes, themselves (which is a Level 5 change). Because I am only a Level 1, and I have no idea (just yet) how to look at what was changed on the HOV lanes, I chose to make the northbound entrance ramp a parking lot road, rather than a ramp (It was previously noted as a one-direction ramp). I believe that marking the ramp as a parking lot road will keep Waze from accidentally routing us on to HOV.
As this is the very first map edit I have done, I could screw something up. Also, when I made the change, I expected a comment box where I could describe why I made the change I did. Since there was no comment box, I am choosing to post the details of my change here.
Hopefully, I will become more familiar with this process as time goes on.
