His recent response is:

Reporter May 23, 2017
Right turn direction onto South Dowling St was not given

The waze provided route does not show a left turn direction was given. I see your point regarding the that segment, however it does not appear that an instruction was given there either - based on the waze provided route. The separate lanes on waze would not be too clear on that section of road as its busy multilane major road with a confusing array of exits at the intersection. Would it be appropriate to force the “turn left” direction in this instance?

I am sorry!! That is indeed confusing - in response I was looking at a southbound unrelated issue and then copied the wrong permalink.

The reporter has not responded on this one, however the comments above were drawn from the Waze data: “The waze provided route does not show a left turn direction was given. I see your point regarding the that segment, however it does not appear that an instruction was given there either - based on the waze provided route. The separate lanes on waze would not be too clear on that section of road as its busy multilane major road with a confusing array of exits at the intersection.”

My question is would it be appropriate to direct Waze to make an announcement? Or best to wait for the reporter to respond?

Thanks ituajr… I have asked now. I stand in awe of your investigation!! I didnt realise the arrows on the Waze route were not to be trusted. Will stand by and see what the reporter says…

Many thanks for your detailed response.

URs are common at this intersection, as the Waze data collected shows that this segment
[https://www.waze.com/editor/?env=row&lon=151.21893&lat=-33.88610&s=87809495&zoom=7&segments=58978996&mapUpdateRequest=10444946](https://www.waze.com/editor/?env=row&lon=151.21893&lat=-33.88610&s=87809495&zoom=7&segments=58978996&mapUpdateRequest=10444946) is slow,
so by going left than right should save a tiny bit of time. Of course the Wazer thinks that going straight is faster.
