Hi,
First of all, let me introduce myself. I’m Kayos, the Local Champ for BC and Senior Editor and I’m looking after most of the unlock requests in Canada at the moment. I’d like to welcome you to Waze, and look forward to working with you to better manage our fragile maps.
If you have not done so already, I recommend reading the Welcome Page: https://wiki.waze.com/wiki/Waze_Map_Editor/Welcome
A lot of tips and resources to really get you started.
You should always edit with 100% certainty, never guess. If something looks obviously out of place or irregular, please ask questions. In terms of the issue you posted for an unlock here, typically we don’t unlock a segment more than two levels, but in this case its a little used road and a straight forward edit. I’ve lowered the lock level to L1 so you can complete the edit. Normally it’s best to complete the edit to the point you can and add the segment then request the unlock. Are you familiar with this area? As I’ve said, it’s best to start editing in an area you are very familiar with so you know for sure that the map is incorrect.
You can also make a post in our dedicated subforum for other questions or issues you come across: https://www.waze.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=57
Please visit the Welcome Page it will guide you to useful plugins/scripts like WME Validator which will highlight errors on the map.
There is a lot of work that needs to be done, a lot of which is with respect to Waze Places and speed limits. Even segment editing, you may find that some roads are locked to a higher level; you can request an unlock here: https://www.waze.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=358, which you have done in this case, but I have it in this message so you have lots of links and resources in the same message.
We can also grant you areas outside of your driving radius: https://www.waze.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=57&t=93406
This can provide a great sandbox opportunity to practice segment editing.
There is a lot of opportunities to edit in Waze and in Canada you will have to follow the wiki, and use external resources: plugins, scripts in order to highlight and identify the issues.
Please feel free to contact me directly should you have any questions. Local senior editors in your area are doctorkb and Jay91150, so reach out to them as well if you have specific local questions. Note that there are some very specific editing requirements and guidelines for Quebec.

Ready for relock.
Thanks for all the info.
Relocked.
EDIT: Sorry about leaving in the Quebec part, I know that doesn’t apply to you, just got left over from a previous post.
