Lincoln Road also has lots of gas stations, and every day someone drives along and “updates” all the prices . . . including the prices of fuel at a station that closed months ago. I’m not very happy about travelling to fill up at a station that had a good price for diesel, and updated only yesterday so I thought it would be fairly accurate, only to find that the price was twelve cents more than it was reported on Waze. So I drove right along Lincoln Road and in to every station and updated their prices. Would you believe, all of their prices were updated this morning and then when I arrived a short time later (also this morning) the prices were 6 cents less, ten cents more, twelve cents more on those fuels not advertised on the street?!? No, I do not believe the prices all swing so much.
Is there any way to lock the updated date on these prices until someone actually goes and sees the price and updates them? Or could people who are found to be “updating” old prices without checking them be somehow blocked from price updating? I have no doubt that the prolific price updater will drive back along Lincoln Road tonight, “updating” them all, and then again in the morning, repeat verbatim until someone actually checks the prices. As per my experience, the recently updated prices could actually be very out of date, yet members choose to use that station based on what they think are today’s prices, which defeats the whole purpose of this very useful feature.
I don’t think the petrol price update function is working correctly at the moment.
I’ve updated prices elsewhere, and returned a couple of days later only for the prices to be shown as being updated (by me) 48 days ago.
If you notice this sort of error on a regular basis (and it’s not just a rogue user) you could always submit a bug report - https://www.waze.com/support/question and type “Report a bug”.
Thanks. Now that you mention it, I think it might be a “rogue user” and I guess there is nothing to fix that. Keeps adding prices to the closed gas station. For a while I thought that the increased reporting power that comes with being a high points user was making his old reports override my newer ones even when I removed the gas type from the closed station, but the gas prices on the closed gas station come back up and are different each day so it looks like he is actually adding it back in each day.
Where abouts is this service station?
If it’s no longer there we can delete it
Tauhinu: is it the one by McDonalds (cnr Moselle and Lincoln)?
If so, it doesn’t appear in the editor, but is currently being re-vamped into a G.A.S. station anyway.
Wasn’t that a BP a long while ago before they changed it to G.A.S.?
Yep, that’s the one.
It’s currently undergoing a reno, I guess it’ll re-open sometime next year.
