Lvl 5, Chesapeake, VA (I-264 to I-664 split)

Requesting Lvl 5 help to clear three URs at the I-264/I-664 split.
We’ve got a “missing road-split”, “should say stay on 664”, and “wayfinder needed”. All of the roads/ramps look right to me, but what is a “wayfinder”? and more importantly how do I create it?

In addition to fixing and closing these 3 UR’s, please explain here what you did and why…Teachable moment

Wayfinders are discussed here. Basically, they are segments that are intended to induce “keep/stay” instructions that match the pull through signs at an exit. Hypertechinally, this is probably not a wayfinder as this is really an equal split, as neither side is signed as an exit.

Either way, if one leg is freeway and the other is ramp only the ramp will give an instruction. You need both to be ramps or both to be freeway to get instructions for both directions. I choose both freeway as both ramps give an “exit right” while both freeway give a “keep/stay right.” However, now looking at the interchange as a whole, maybe both ramps would be better for consistency. On the other hand in street view the Big Green Signs (BGSs) on the other splits do have the choices labeled as exits, while on this one they are not. So maybe exit right instructions are better for the other two splits.

Thank you for the fix and especially for the explanation. Personally I would tend to lean towards consistency and either go with all ramps or preferably all freeway splits despite the BGSs. This intersection truly is a simple highway split despite some being numbered exits(VDOT is very confusing around here). All freeway splits (i.e. no ramps) would give a more consistent appearance on the map and keep right/left onto I-### would, IMHO, make more sense in all the cases than exit right/left.

P.S. Should I go ahead and close the three URs?

Yes, go ahead and close the URs. I made all the splits consistent.
