From my experience, it always happens when the chat is open on a user, and the same user sends a new message.
Same issue, seems like its caused by multiple tabs open (which I do), and WME thinks that it’s read here but unread on the other tab, hence labelling it unread across the board. I had to open the message in all tabs for it to disappear. Shouldn’t be that way IMO
still happened in the case the last chat is mine…
yes multiple tab, wme windows and discuss windows, i already click both of them, but the “bug” did not always occured
i experienced the same but any bug report should be report without any script. try running without toolbox and tampermonkey active.

Thank you for the report! Do I understand correctly that this issue appears in Waze Discuss? Do you have multiple Waze Discuss tabs open in your browser at the same time?

actually not a big deal, but that sign of “number” make me just a little bit currious

Can also happen when you open the message in the app while you have any tab open that has the notification icon on it. The message count does not clear across platforms most of the time.

Could you please let me know what the trigger is to reset the Chat notification counter? I received a chat message this morning, but even after responding to it the notification counter is still showing 1 in red. The chat itself also shows unread above the message. See screenshot below.
I already closed all Waze windows, but that did not help. It’s nothing major and doesn’t hinder WME’s working, but it’s bugging me.

For me the chat notification / chat counter reset immediately when I opened the conversation on a browser on my phone just now.
Describe the problem*:
I sent a Waze chat message to a user who had added a weird PUR. They replied to me. I answered on my phone and after two more messages between us, I deleted the chat from my phone.
When I got back to my desktop, I had the red badge for the message and the message still existed in WME. But now I can’t have that chat marked as read in WME, nor can I delete it in WME. As you can see in the screenshot, it’s deleted from my phone app.

Any update?
My unread messages counter is now 68, and it keeps climbing, although I have read all the messages.
When I enter the chat, I see now 8 red bibles, with numbers from 1 to 29. It is very hard to see really new messages, since the message just increases the counter, but there is no easily seen notification where the new message is.
Edited: Here is how it looks like in the app-inbox (and the same is in every other app).
