the only time i see U-turns and heuristics mentioned is here at the very beginning-

Lane guidance does not affect audio instructions, with the exception of u-turn instructions resulting from heuristics for intersections on divided roads.

i think the U-turn heuristic and audio instruction is a pretty important feature that could use a bit more coverage in the wiki. the way u-turns are handled at H and # intersections will be different than the way it has been always been in the US. with turn left, turn left instructions now being replaced with a U-turn instruction without having to add any U-turn lane overrides or junction box TIOs. all that need to be added is lanes that include a left turn.

it’s been tested that the median segment does not need lanes added for this to work, only the entry segment for the U-turn.

One side effect of the H/# heuristics is that in many cases the server will identify ‘turn left, then turn left’ movements across a H/# intersection (which are not prohibited by the U-turn prevention algorithm) as a U-turn, and display the U-turn lane guidance arrow in the app. In addition to the visual display of the U-turn arrow, the app’s voice turn-by-turn instructions will vocalize the movement as a u-turn.
