**To start with**
When the road is truly a dirt road, it is a good idea to apply both.

**Off-road / Not maintained**
Indicates the road type. Waze treats it more “reluctantly”, similar to Private, and does not prefer it as a regular route.

**Unpaved**
Indicates that the road is not paved. This is important for routing, because if the user has **Avoid unpaved roads** enabled, Waze will try to avoid it when there is a reasonable alternative.

**Correct setting for a passable dirt road:**
• **Road type:** Off-road / Not maintained
• **Attribute:** Unpaved enabled

**Accessing a destination:**
If the destination is located on or near such a segment, Waze can use it when necessary. Therefore, we do not make it a “regular” road just for the sake of routing.

**Conclusion:** For a real dirt road that is passable/usable, we set **Off-road / Not maintained + Unpaved**.
