Place Point for every address?

Came across this when dealing with some URs…

Every home has a Place Point.

Unfortunately, Waze invited that with the app changes. If I was designing that feature at all, I would have just integrated it into addressing instead of places, to avoid this. The addressing data there is great for updating the address database, but it doesn’t actually do that. At the same time it causes these proliferation of private places, and for now, I can’t even tell what a single private place accomplishes.

I’m thinking the house numbers system might be in on its way out, largely because it’s limited to approaching a given address from the street the address is on. For many larger buildings, campuses, or even private row houses which might have garages in like a back alley that definitely does not have the same name as the street the actual address is on, the HN system is definitely less than practical.
