So, I was thinking the other day about more ways that Waze could be useful and I came up with the following short list:

  1. be able to input multiple destinations (say, on a shopping/errands trip) and have waze figure out the fastest/shortest route to hit all waypoints
  2. be able to make pitstops (i.e. to get gas) during navigation without having the software yell at you for going the wrong way, on purpose
  3. be able to mark gas prices at filling stations (kind of like how we can mark police, speed traps, etc.), so that way if one finds a particularly cheap station, other wazers can save some money and I can remember where the heck I found cheap gas.

I’m sure most of these are/have been posted somewhere before, but please feel free to add to them, or bump this, and maybe the admin will take notice.

You should look forward to version 3.2!

Point 1 is the problem. The travelling salesman problem is a difficult one, and one which is covered on Wikipedia. The amount of resources necessary to calculate the quickest route between each increases exponentially with each waypoint that is added.
As dmcconachie says, wait and see if 3.2 has these features.

3.2 will have all of these features (assuming what us in the current beta makes the final version). Limit of one waypoint / stop.

Initially the deployment of Gas Prices will likely be limited.

Pretty sure Darren suggested that without leaking possibly confidential info. My understanding was we were not meant to say about it, could be wrong.

Confidential information? The beta threads are public in the forums and have the changes and enhancements detailed.

Exactly why I asked (someone) a couple of week’s ago why the Beta forums are public.

We were asked by the developers to keep the inside info confidential, but then the info was almost immediately in the forums.

I’m not drunk…I’m using Tapatalk.

Yeah I wondered about that, hence my confusion. Waze tell us to keep it quiet and leave the forums accessible by all. Maybe they don’t know?

Surely Perlin is posting the Beta announcements and feedback threads in the place where Waze wants them.

Why hide features that are in Beta? It’s great for Wazers who are following the forums to get excited about upcoming features.

In addition, can’t anyone download and install the Waze betas for Android? What is the purpose to be hush, hush on features when the software is available for anyone?

Good point. So why tell us via twitter to keep quiet? A simple few clicks through the forums would achieve the same results. I dunno…

I think there’s a stark difference between what’s currently in the betas and what’s in development!

Nah the stuff I was helping with was already in the iPhone beta it really was no secret to the community. Ah well not to worry I didn’t let anything slip so it’s all good.
