I would like to request a Mass UR Responder Script for UR’s that have not had any additional information provided. We recently wrapped up the NYC MapRaid which had over 7,000 UR’s in and around NYC. Reaching out and responding to all 7,000 of the blank UR’s was quite the task. It would be nice if a script can respond to all blank UR’s “in view” with a generic message requesting more details. Here is the response we used for the NYC MapRaid:
This is a French script that only allows a custom response to one UR at a time, but it may be worth seeing if Myriades would be open to allowing for an on-screen option as well as a customized English version. If not, we could develop something simpler in English geared toward a more US-centered use–especially as MapRaids become more popular.

I have been working on a script to help reply to URs. But I wasn’t quite ready to release it to the public.
I thought that a fully automated system would get me in trouble so I have it set up to be used on a one by one basis.
I didn’t see Myriades script till I was pretty far along with mine so Instead of the drop down in each UR mine adds another tab to the “me” window. There are some steps I automated to remove clicks the script altogether really speeds up the entire process. But since I wasn’t ready to go completely public I will send you both an PM with more details.
Rick, could you send me your script for comparison? I actually just created a quick bookmarklet with the requested functionality with no UI, and I would like to see how your functionality compares.
A fully automated script probably would need some discretion or at least some filters. If you have a one by one that allows custom comments over the lifecycle of a UR, that would be ideal for everyone. The bookmarklet that I created covers everything with no comment from an editor OR the reporter. If the reporter had any comment initially, my code holds off on adding a comment. MGODLEW or others, any thoughts on the different approaches, appropriate rank usage, or any concerns like that?

I don’t think there should be any rank restrictions, as long as its not an automatically “Solving” or “Not Identified” closing URs. I mean, I’ve come across rank 1’s asking for more details which the submitter has responded to and I resolved. Not much different. As long as we can get more details about the problem it doesn’t really matter. No reason to get in trouble for asking for info, the problem lies when/if they are closed if the problem was not addressed properly.
I have a script as well that allows custom messages to URs along with accessing all URs on screen.
Im weary about automation but it can be implemented in short order.
Mine is kinda like the french script (which i didnt see till a little while into dev either) but it auto chooses the message based on the type of error reported. (general error, missing road, incorrect directions, etc)
Im not ready to go public with the final product as i wanted it but i can put together a “Raid Version” that just grabs all the URs on screen and auto submits a custom message per type of error.
Ok, is anyone else secretly developing UR-related scripts that are not ready yet? Let’s get the Dev efforts out in the open.

I have actually asked Myriades to translate this script earlier and I was told that it would be done, just not when 
Autresponses like that would make the mass-responding heaps easier
Thanks. At this point, there will be two separate scripts in English that attempt to address this need in different ways: UR Comments by rickzabel and AutoUR by SuperMedic. Global Champ orbitc has pulled them together to share skills and ideas as well as create a plan for the future.

randyboy i think my script is much eaier to use and has some features that make the whole UR process easier.
I have 4 functions to combined then i think i can release the current state to the public. Afterwards there is talk of combining some of the features form each of our scripts.
I would very much like to see what you have to offer even before you are merging.

This one kinda of slipped by me here but I will voice my concerns here and now.
I would be strongly opposed to any mass UR updater. I don’t care if it is 7 UR’s or 7000 UR’s. If it is a MapRaid or day to day. They need to be looked at individually. Some can be solved without even additional info (Most turn not allowed come to mind).
IMO, a one button solution is not a solution for this particular issue. Seeing what the french script has to offer on a per UR basis seems like a step in the right direction and could be useful. Promoting not even looking at an UR I just don’t understand. How is this helping anything other than getting it off someones to do list?
I am opposed to a mass script also. You need to look at each UR and determine if it needs a comment, can be solved, etc. Just because something was reported as “turn not allowed” doesn’t really mean that was the issue either, so your mass “turn not allowed” will seem silly to the driver. Mass commenting, solving, or marking as NI is not helping the map. At the meetup waze stated that going around marking items as solved or NI without actually looking or doing anything is damaging the map. A mass script is only going to lead to more and more of this.
This is México City, if you zoom in, more URs pop up. We get 100 URs a day, most of those can be wrong address or general error.
This is what I can focus on, info the reporter thought we are great mind readers. I cannot spend 10 minutes in a UR when I know more are popping up and more PURs.
I refuse having our great ignite friends in town because I am not concentrating on info I can really work on.
I do not want to mass close URs, just mass add initial message to the ones that are General error and do not have a description from the reporter and they may not have a route taken because the user may have been walking and added that as a memo.
Another good thing would be that Waze does not let users add URs if no info is added, like house numbers in residences or photos in places, then there would not be a need for this kind of help discussed here.

I am one of the AM of Mexico City where we struggle everyday with the URs.
I have solved more than 11,000 in less than one year! Considering that I edit 5 days per week, this means that I have solved more than 40 URs per day.
This UR Responder Script can help me a lot to leave a message in the URs where we don’t have description at all. Remember that Waze don’t alloud you to write something in the UR if you are driving. I would say that 85% of the times users don’t reply. Why do I have to spend my time leaving dealing with those URs?
We need to focus in solving problems, not in dealing with URs without a response.

I didn’t say spend 10 minutes on each UR. Each UR does need individual attention but you should have a good idea if you need more info or not after spending a few moments looking at the UR. What purposes does a one click option solve. I said before generically, it sounds like you just want to check it off of your list and move on to the next issue. I think that is an incorrect way of thinking. Yes most will need more info but that is why we are editors not repliers. What makes this mass commenting tool any better than IGN?
What gets lost when you do it? How about the UR’s that can be solved without further comment. Now they are just sitting there waiting for your reply when it could have been addressed immediately.
Is actually having to looking at the UR not trying to solve the problem?
