Birmingham rush hour this morning as well. To be fair though, Waze did keep guessing and would have had me zig-zag via some crazy routes if I had followed instructions.
Well as it just seems to be London, has anyone spoken to the government and explained the road structure in London seems to be to complicated for our little sat nav and the whole network needs digging up and simplyfying.
I dare to be rude here, but it’s not just london, its england and scotland too…
Try planning from Solent Road, Havant to Applecross, Highlands ( A trip i need to do in a few weeks time) and it’s bailing completely… I can sometimes route from havant to Birmingham, Birmingham to Glasgow, Glasgow to Applecross, but never a full route, which is rather annoying
At least on the livemap i get a “Whoa! Something went wrong. Please try again later” message
There is one major difference - London will route fine, outside the peak hours. There is something in the way the algorithm handles traffic that borks it. There used to/still is another problem across estuaries and similar geographical features which may or may not be related, but that applied all of the time so might just have been a distance issue (ie some “sense” check on “as the crow flies” versus “road” distance).
I had this problem the other day. I travelled from Hornchurch RM11 to near Kingston SW15 in the morning, and couldn’t get a route in the app or on the live map. I had used the live map the night before and it found it with no problem.
I was able to get a route initially by setting an end point part the way through the journey on New Kent Road. I tried the original destination once I had reached the A13 near Limehouse link and then it did find a route all the way.
For the return journey in the afternoon I was able to initially get a route all the way, but when I tried to add a local supermarket as a stop it failed to find any route at all. If I separated it into two journeys then it worked OK.
It’s not just London. Last week I tried to plan a route on my iphone from Beaconsfield (which is M40 J1) to Girvan in South Ayrshire and couldn’t one, however it would plan a route to Glasgow which is a fair bit further north but reasonably simple; M40, M25, M1, M6, M74. If you are going to Girvan you have to come off the M74 and go down a few wiggly bits  .
I then tried on Live map and found the nearest I could get was a route from Uxbridge to Girvan. I ended up scrapping the idea and went by plane instead (I did remember to turn Waze turned off) but Waze worked a treat getting from the airport. No hanging around waiting for it to work out that it was 300 miles away from where it was last used unlike my old TomTom which could take up to 10 minutes.
I’ve just tried planning the route again in Live map and kept moving my start point further north until it worked, ended up getting one from Dumfries to Girvan which is not actually very far (65 miles) and it offered me three alternatives. All the following failed, Uxbridge, Watford, Northampton, Rugby and Carlisle. I tried each one several times and also tried each one to Glasgow which always worked.
I’ve only tried searching a couple of times so can’t really say.
I think the first time I looked was middle of the day and at least I got a route from Uxbridge (West London). Today was searching at 18:30 and had to move the starting point all the way to Dumfries before it would give me a route.
I’ve tried a few different times and it seems to be always failing, after 10 seconds or so I get the message “Whoa! Something went wrong. Please try again later”. It seems like the server is busy and just times out.
Just to let you know I am currently having problems using live map to route from Pinner to Streatham. I know its an ongoing problem, just adding another example. Also this is 15:00 on a weekday so not rush hour, that I know of.
EDIT: Cannot use client to find a route either. I am not at Pinner at present so using that as the destination.
