Routing

yesterday we left from Burleigh Heads along Reedy Creek Rd and basically i was routing in to brisbane and it mentions that the next turn off is 91km away which was The Clem… yet when i look at the map it has To Pacific Mtwy (N) at the exit ramp so why does waze not show that exit? like when im going north on the gateway to a destination like Nambour it never says To Bruce Hwy (N) just that my next turn is say 201 Nambour… why does waze do this?

I had this same problem at 2 other locations, Centenary Hwy to Springfield and the on-ramp to Logan Mtwy.
It doesn’t mention the on-ramp "To Pacific Mtwy(N) as there is no other road leading off Reedy Creek Rd at that junction and the road junction is straight, so it assumes the road just changes name, as well as the Road Type.
I also know this section of road very well as it has a few of my clients located off Reedy Creek Rd. What do you think is a good idea for Waze to say to instruct the driver?

-Pete

it dosent even mention that i was on the pac hwy - clem . also i triedto add a node at the exit on the gateway to bruce hwy to add (to Bruce Hwy N) but it still just says my next turn was nambour. im not sure what to do to fix this as i have been racking brain to fix. will a little bit of rd with no name inbetween help?

also sorry bout bad wording keyboard is on blink

got a permalink of the location?

the gateway?

ok, the junction go Gympie Art, Gateway Mtwy and about 1km north, start of the Bruce.
So what was the plan?

After 0.32 miles, turn right
Toombul Rd

After 0.26 miles
Enter roundabout

After 65.62 feet, exit roundabout
M1 - Bruce Hwy (N)

After 14.06 miles, keep left
Exit 133: Anzac Ave

thats a route on the website to anzac ave. what roundabout? strange the last roundabout is toombul rd to gateway

this segment
re…what i mentioned earlier\

does not mention -to bruce hwy on app

ok, slightly confused here. Toombul Rd, runs off Sandgate Rd, and the other end is at Southern Cross Way (the old Gateway Mtwy).

Where is your start point and where is your end point so I get an idea of the route.

Technically it shoudn’t, because, it’s still part of the Gateyway Mtwy, also it’s labled as a freeway (same as the Gateway Mtwy segment before it, and there is only 1 segment leading off at that point.

say toombul rd to anzac parade. u come off toombul rd here
https://www.waze.com/editor/?lon=153.07866&lat=-27.39917&zoom=6&layers=TBFTFFTTTTTTTFTTTTTFTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT&env=row&segments=232323540

follow gateway to bruce hwy

https://www.waze.com/editor/?lon=153.01895&lat=-27.29853&zoom=5&layers=TBFTFFTTTTTTTFTTTTTFTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT&env=row&segments=234506469

then exit anzac ave

https://www.waze.com/editor/?lon=153.01638&lat=-27.24816&zoom=5&layers=TBFTFFTTTTTTTFTTTTTFTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT&env=row&segments=105441479

but the whole route exits u onto gateway and says the next turn is anzac ave… whatta bout between gateway and anzac ave

ot just will say 30km to anzac ave once u hit gateway
shouldent it be like 15km to bruce then 15 to anzac ave

Ok, now that I know the route…
No it shouldn’t say 15km to Bruce Hwy then 15km to Anzac.

Bruce Hwy is a natural progression from Gateway Mtwy to Bruce Hwy. Both are also labled as Freeway. If you are heading north on the Gateway Mtwy, the only off-ramp past the Deagon Deviation is Bracken Ridge Rd, otherwise you will be forced to continue onto the Bruce Hwy (please correct me if I’m wrong).

As you are not required to make a turn or take an ramp to get to Anzac Ave, as it turns from Gateway to Bruce, your next logical instruction would be Anzac Ave off-ramp!

Take another example, you could drive from the start of Gateway Mtwy: https://www.waze.com/editor/?lon=153.01988&lat=-27.30086&zoom=5&layers=TBFTFFTTTTFTTFTTTTTFTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT&env=row&segments=189635890 to junction of Warrego Hwy & Cunningham Hwy without any turn instructions (and you go through 3 Mtwys). I did however force an instruction at the junction of Gateway Mtwy (S) and on-ramp to Logan Mtwy (W), but without that, you would get no instructions for the whole route.

It’s the same thing to what you are getting.

ok .so going back the other way u get ( to M1 - Gateway Mtwy / Gold Coast) off the bruce why wouldent it just say next turn toombul rd. it even says i have to go onto the southern cross way before toombul rd exit
and yeah deagen diviation and bracken ridge work

I removed the unnessessary junction in the Gateway northbound. I have also increased the lock to level 4 to be a bit closer to the wiki suggestion of level 5 (https://www.waze.com/wiki/index.php?title=How_to_label_and_name_roads_(Australia)). Please refrain from adding unnecessary junctions to Freeways.

No instruction is required as there is no choice to make. Normally way finders are used in highways for choosing between two routes, in Pete’s case there was a requirement for a way finder but heading north from the Gateway to the Bruce there is no requirement as there is no choice. (https://www.waze.com/wiki/Junction_Style_Guide#Wayfinder_Segments Please read and understand this entire wiki section completely before attempting any such thing).

I do not believe Waze currently supports ‘Continue onto …’ instructions.

You get an an instruction to keep left onto the M1 - Gateway Mtwy / Gold Coast because there is a choice to make, there are 2 roads coming out of the junction.
