I don’t believe I’ve seen any guidance on rural address using road mile and decimal for the address. This is common along rural Hwys in Alaska. For example I’m trying to update the ALCAN border crossing and the address is:
Mile Post: 1221.8 Alaska Hwy
ALCAN, AK 99780
https://www.cbp.gov/contact/ports/alcan
Any suggestions? Do I just round it off?
If there are no other HNs on the road, then inputting the milepost as an HN would work pretty well (rounded off, of course). That might work reasonably well for the alaska highway, since it’s going through a lot of unorganized area.
It’s all unorganized borough until Mile 295 of the richardson at Fairbanks North Star, then they start getting real assigned HNs.
The only other real HN addresses would be in Tok and Delta Junction, where you’d have City set. Otherwise it’s no city, and a milepost HN would work great, along with putting HNs at each mile marker along the road.
Just talking out loud here, not telling you how to do it. If you can get GMaps to set the address in the correct location for a given search then it doesn’t matter if we have it correct in Waze. They may have more latitude. Other than that I don’t see many other alternatives.
