## Highway Service Area

A _service area_ is a rest area along the [highway](https://www.waze.com/discuss/t/freeway/374767 "Freeway") with sometimes a [gas station](https://www.waze.com/discuss/t/gas-station-place/374764 "Gas Station Place"). restaurant and/or a hotel. Some service areas contain an electric charging facility. This facility should be mapped separately as an [area place](https://www.waze.com/discuss/t/places/374885 "Places") and have its separate access and exit [PLR’s](https://www.waze.com/discuss/t/parking-lot-road/374861 "Parking Lot Road"). Just like a traditional gas station.

**Parking lot roads**  
A service area should consist of [Parking lot roads](https://www.waze.com/discuss/t/parking-lot-road/374861 "Parking Lot Road"), including entrance- and exit segments.  
Only the entrance [PLR](https://www.waze.com/discuss/t/parking-lot-road/374861 "Parking Lot Road") segment should have a street name (name of the service area), no city.  
All other [PLR’s](https://www.waze.com/discuss/t/parking-lot-road/374861 "Parking Lot Road"), including the exit should have neither street name, nor city.  
Locking level equal to the [locking level](https://www.waze.com/discuss/t/locks/374807 "Locks") of the highway.

Map a [gas station](https://www.waze.com/discuss/t/gas-station-place/374764 "Gas Station Place"), an [electric charging facility](https://www.waze.com/discuss/t/charging-station-place/374703 "Charging Station Place") as separate area places. Add point [places](https://www.waze.com/discuss/t/places/374885 "Places") for Restaurants and other interesting facilities. Add all applicable entry points. Add entry points for all routes a place can be reached: fi. from the gas station and from the rest area.
