I was having a look at the roads in my area and I noticed that Soldiers Rd isn’t connected to Thompson Rd. This road isn’t in my driving area hence I can’t change it. Also, the aerial images point that Thompson Rd isn’t quite sealed…
I have connected the road for you. I don’t think it’s really a problem if the images shows it not sealed, the majority of the roads in rural/outback areas would be unsealed as well.
I was just wondering if perhaps it needs to be marked as a dirt road?
I would leave it as a street, dirt roads almost don’t show up in the client and a great number of roads in the outback wouldn’t show up if changed to that type.
We have roads classed as numbered highways which are still unsealed, so the dirt road type is a bit of a tricky one here in Australia.
…
Why don’t dirt roads show up? They are roads after all… ![]()
They do depending on the zoom level you are using on your phone, it’s the width of them that makes them harder to see.
Ah, I see. There is so much to learn about WME and the client app…
Yes, lots to learn :D, I’m still learning new things everyday. Have a read of the Australia: Style Guide For Map Editing for starters and searching the forum for information as well.
Feel free to ask questons of any of us here.
I know of one road we maked as a dirt road over here in Perth. I don’t think people actually drive on it.
Have a look in the editor and then have a look at how it shows up in the client. Play around with the map colour schemes as well, some show dirt roads better than others.
