Travel overseas not recorded and uploaded

I just returned from a two week travel from USA to Switzerland, South Africa, and England. I use Waze in all three countries but not online connected. I kept Waze running at all times while driving even though I didn’t have data connections. I didn’t have a map on the screen but I could see it was tracking me and the speed I was going at all times.

I thought that if I drove around with Waze running even if not connected it remembered my route so that when I did get connected it would upload my travels for the day. For the whole time none of my routes were uploaded.

Can someone help explain to me how that works? I can’t believe I have to have a data connection at all times because lots of the areas I was traveling to in South Africa didn’t have any mobile towers. Do I have to change something in settings to upload my last two weeks or is everything simply lost?

Thanks for the help

Did you look on the world server?

No I did not! I didn’t realize there were separate servers. Thanks!

OK the good news is I can see something on the world server; I see an attempt at the uploads. It shows my days but each of the trips is 0km. It basically didn’t show the trip route at all only that I was using Waze that day.

So I did something wrong. At the end of each trip I would close down Waze using the Menu function. Any suggestions on what I did wrong?

No data connection = no trip logs.

Yep, Waze only has a limited ability to upload trips or portions of trips with no network connectivity. In all cases you need to have a network connection at the end of the trip, before you turn off Waze (such as on WiFi at your destination). But even with that results will be mixed.

Waze is designed to be used with a network connection.
