Hi,
Please can someone unlock this small section of road? The road name in the client is being spoken as “Street Albans Road” when it should be “St. Albans Road”. Most of the road it OK, just seems to be this section.
Thanks

Unlocked and renamed.
Thanks!
This has come up before. The road should be “St Albans Road”. There is no full stop in the city name St Albans. “St.” is wrong.
The text-to-speech is supposed to have a UK override that reads names like this correctly. This doesn’t work.
The problem with corrupting the road name on the map to “St.” is that (like with any other bodge on the map) someone else will think it’s wrong (because it is wrong!) and come along and correct it. The TTS needs to be fixed instead.
While “St” is technically the correct text for this road, and Waze is supposed to read it as Saint, it doesn’t. I have no confidence that TTS will be fixed any time soon, nor that it will be able to cope with all possible permutations.
Adding a . is a small compromise to make, and gives the best experience for users.
If/when Waze ever make it work properly, then we can drop the dots.
Tell dmcconachie, he said not to add the ‘.’.
I did?
Yes here:

And xteejx said the same in another thread.
This keeps coming up and I’m always told don’t change the map (with which I agree, anyway, for what it’s worth).
Think the implication was more “wait” than “don’t” but fair enough. In any case, nothing’s changed so the advice now would be to add the ‘.’ in my opinion.
