Unlock request - Level 5 - Southborough, MA

I’m a level 1 editor.

I want to remove the short North-South segment, and the “diamond” shape of Route 9 at the intersection.

Route 9 is a divided road. Every day I drive East along Rt 9 to this intersection and make a U-turn at the light to head West on Rt 9. The spoken directions say “take a left, then take a left”, because of the short north-to-south segment. There is no reason for this segment to exist.

At the very least, I’m hoping the spoken directions can be changed to say “make a U-turn”. There is a driveway on the left side of the road (when heading East) just a bit past the intersection that I’m afraid someone will try to take a left into because of the spoken directions, but that would be a VERY dangerous manuever, as can be seen on the aerial.

If a level 1 editor isn’t trusted to make this change, I’m hoping someone else can.

Thanks for your help!

I think I found a ‘fix’ for your problem.

PM me and let me know how it routes after the next map updates roll out to the clients.

This intersection is a mess… and harling has it locked as MA-9 is considered a high value road (and has been locked because lower level edits try to help and just end up making it worse)…

Waze does not support U-Turns, but I’ve been able to trick the system into announcing them (it comes out as “Turn left at U-Turn”)

Which U-Turns are allowed - I can tell the eastbound to westbound one is OK, but what about the other way?

Thanks for your help. The audio directions now say “make a left at the u-turn” which is much better.

U-turns are allowed in both the eastbound and westbound directions of Rt 9.

I like this solution, at least for this intersection: the “U-Turn” segment isn’t terribly out of place because it corresponds to the physical pavement, and there is no cross-street on that side of Route 9 to cause confusion.

Eagerly awaiting a proper U-Turn solution.
