so how does this work exactly? sometimes I get a pop up to verify whether a hazard exists, but it seems to only work at random, and on occasion. In other words, some (most) days during my commute, I might pass a dozen or more hazards, and never get prompted to verify any of them. Other days I will get several in a row during my commute.
Is this a buggy feature? or are there rules around when and how it will prompt for verification?
It’s very hard to tell. I also pass quite a few pins (hazards, accidents and police - traffic pins don’t give popup warnings) with no popups where it seems like they should. This can be explained if the pin is for a hazard in the other direction. Either someone going in the other direction indicated that it was in their lane or someone going in your direction indicated that it was in the other lane. As there is no other way to see what direction is attributed to the hazard, the lack of a pop-up seems to indicate that the pin is associated with the other direction. I have seen many that should be for my direction, but don’t popup. But this could possibly be due to wazers who don’t understand what the “other lane” option does. It is just very hard to determine whether the failure to popup is due to a bug or to user error.
That being said, there has been some confirmation that the “other lane” feature isn’t working. Which seems to indicate to me that there are some bugs.
good observation… I will this out on my next few commutes… I am pretty sure that I have passed hazard pins though, and saw nothing on either side of the road way, yet I was not prompted… but if your guess is correct, that I would only see pop up when the report was on my side, should be fairly easy to verify or not
I don’t think it is easy to verify. To verify you have to assume that the person making the report has understood what the “my lane” and “other lane” choices do and has used them correctly. Unless you know who made the report, this may not be a valid assumption.
First thing in the am I take my kids to daycare. The little road will have potholes going in the opposite directions. I will mark them as a hazard in “other lane”. After I drop kids off I turn around and go back same road to work. When I come upon my previous report, that’s now in my lane, I don’t even get warned of the hazard ahead.
