Hi Ian,

Hi Ian,
You can add him/her via CAR form.
Thanks for the quick reply to what I realise now was an old thread. Please can you give me a link or explain where I find the CAR form
Thanks
Edit, I have found it is our Country Admin who has this form. He is doing it for me. Thanks
REALLY happy to see this go out to the broader editing community and can’t wait to try it out!
Hi all,
I have two questions for which I cannot find answers
It’s as officially released as it’s ever going to be, it hasn’t changed in a very long time since the wider testing began, so I don’t see much changing in it ever.
And as of now there is no other way besides CAR to request mentoring permissions.
Thanks,
If so, we can use it broadly
I have around 10 mentors who could use it.
but that’s not a good way to go through CAR…I understood that a form was also available (but do not have the link for it) I do not have access to it though I manage the mentor comunitee in France. So I need to ask GC every time I need.
CAR is the only way I’ve ever known of to get access, so if you had a form, then you’re lucky!
But as far as your mentors, they should be able to get access and utilize it with no issues.
I may have misunderstood, but I think there is some confusion here, and it is the same as I had when I started Mentoring. ![]()
The CAR form is to propose someone as a mentor. This must be done by the Country Admin.
There is no form to apply to be mentored (become a mentee). This currently can only be done by the mentor selecting someone from the list that the mentor has. This ONLY includes new editors who have been editing for 4 weeks or less. After a new editor has been editing for more then 4 weeks they go from the list and can not become a mentee.
This is a really poor feature of the system as it is very rare that someone new will have done enough to decide they want to take this up in a few weeks. It really needs to be a few months. This would allow the new editor time to try the WME, make a few edits, make a few mistakes, get noticed and understand enough to know they would like to learn more.
Totally agree.
Totally agree too. That is why we do not accept editors to apply as mentee in France if they are not L2 as a minimum… This may be reached in few days, I agree, but it sometimes takes months for them to reach that editor level
We need to make sure the mentee is ready to take time to learn as the Mentors will invest a lot of time to raise his mentee.

Any possibility to extend the time limit of 30 days to enroll a Mentee ? I understand the trouble will then be for the server to propose a wide list of new editors. But why do not we have a double solution, either to select new editors within 30 days, or have a free text to enroll an older editor …
