What is the idea behind getting point’s?
Bragging rights for the most part, though more editing will get you more rights in the editor.
Only problem I see with that is that to many people overpost which makes it hard to take them serious. Points should only be given for useful information. Does anyone really care if a sidestreet is averaging 25mph instead of 30mph? Stuff like that is posted for points and only for points, and causes waze congestion!
Well the speed reports are auto generated, so no one gets point for them.
Most of the manually generated speed reports come from when the application asks you if you are in traffic. If you say yes, it influences the possibility of an automated one that colors the road.
I didn’t realize that. I guess I should use it more before commenting. So an auto generated speed could be generated when someone is at a stop sign, and it would show up as 0mph and a complete standstill?
No. The traffic detection programming is sophisticated enough to know the difference between a stop at a light/sign and traffic.
I won’t say it is perfect. But there is an amount of distance that will be ignored to try to avoid traffic light notifications, unless of course the light does cause a traffic jam
Which of course will adjust the average speed, and then eventually it should stop alerting.
There is still an issue with how to detect people stopping at a place that is too small to warrant a parking lot road, or if they have navigation on, so they are snapped to the suggested route. But for the most these should be limited to one segment, and can be cleared by another wazer driving through them at normal speed.
