Nicknamed the 'Live Music Capital of the World', Austin, Texas will be hosting the IRONMAN 70.3 Austin for the seventh time on October 27th 2013. Rather than hearing live performances, athletes and spectators will instead be consumed by sounds of splashing waters, spinning bike tires and stampedes of stomping feet. The athlete's day starts with a 1.2 mile, one loop swim in Decker lake, followed by a scenic 56 mile bike ride through rolling Texas hill country, complete with expansive ranches, cedar-covered vistas and sunflower fields. The bike portion concludes at Luedecke Arena where athletes will kick off their 13.1 mile half marathon that will lead them back to the Walter E.Long Park, along the shores of Decker Lake, then back to the Luedecke Arena. The IRONMAN 70.3, is a shorter course than the IRONMAN Triathlon, consisting of more than 50 events around the world. Each of these events qualifies 40 top athletes for the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship in Quebec, Canada.
