QEW is standard enough throughout your region (I used to live in Buffalo/Orchard Park and drive up there all the time) that it would seem this should be solved by the Waze TTS programmers just like any standard road acronym (st, lp, blvd, pkwy, etc...) rather than trying to solve it in the map. I would write to them. -- Just my opinion!

I remember reading somewhere that if you wanted it to say "double you" for "W" in the client that you needed to enclose the letter in single quotes.

'w'

Does that help?

Okay, hold on to your seats, the map has updated and I'm going to try a "Q.E.W. Niagara" ramp in a few minutes to see what happens/explodes.

I can try that. I'm going to see what "Q.E.W." produces. I'm scared it's going to be "cue east west". :geek:

The acronym "QEW" is getting pronounced "Cue" by TTS; I wanted to replace it with "Q.E.W.". Does anybody have any experience with similar situations, and will this get pronounced like it should?

Hagay.

We can't put them into WME yet. We can only submit them to Waze. Eventually we may have the ability within WME to edit how things are pronounced. However it is NOT something they have promised, as it may involve software that is not under their control.

asterix06's post was not in reference to the North American server. For North America we have a very large list of abbreviations that we are testing to learn the TTS results. (See the first post in this topic.)

At their request we have submitted only a few suggestions to Waze at this time, to see how they can be addressed. Once those are resolved, we will be presenting them with additional requests to process.

Some are simple specific exceptions, whereas others are more complicated and are more global.

Can you share what abbreviations are in the list?

Not yet, but hopefully soon.

Once we can, we will probably list them here:
