Timbones, could you provide a means to allow the user to swap the hierarchy order of highlighting?

I'm an idiot. Nothing to see here... Just an idiot who can't remember what features are there when he's away from WME.

Tim, you rock.

Could we have the ability to change highlight colors maybe? Locks are very hard to see on major Hwys since the are red...

I'll add +1 to that.

In fact, I have been hacking my version of the script for the last couple of months, changing the lock highlight from red (#f00) to cyan (#0ff), which seems to work quite well.

Even if you can't build in the ability to change & remember the colours Tim, perhaps you could define the colours at the top of the script? Then anyone who wants to make changes and isn't scared of a text editor  can find the colours all in one place.

@iaonhouse I like your suggestion. I did some digging and figured out how to change the locked color :).

I totally agree - many major highways have to be locked because they are split, and the red highlight over the red that WME uses for major highways is hard for anyone to see, not to mention editors with less-than perfect vision. I find more rogue, incorrectly-unlocked segments of major highways in my area than any other kind of road that comes in the one-way variety.

We should probably try to avoid blue, green, and yellow as well, since those are the colors used for other road types that also often come in high-volume one-way segments that need to be kept locked except for editing.

I suggest the highlight be either 1/2 the width of the road and denser OR 2 times the width of the road and much less dense.

Some highlighting can be done wider+translucent while others can be narrower+darker.

Either of those combinations should show up no matter what the background coloring.

The times I have trouble are when the highlight is about the same width as an not highlighted segment and the same color/density.

I would like to suggest an additional highlight - roundabout junctions with soft turns.

I understand that it's not really neccessary to highlight soft turns in general - it would probably tempt people to go around "fixing" them without adding any real value to the map. However, as far as I am aware, roundabouts should never have soft turns. The JNF script includes removing these automatically and I think WME Addons does something similar.

If roundabout junctions with soft turns had a nice yellow dot, similar to the red & purple ones, it would save me a lot of time speculatively checking roundabouts. :)

I am now convinced Tim was correct in not highlighting issues on more minor roads. Time and again in my virtual travels I've come across whole swathes of areas where people have just set two way directions and then used JNF without little or no attempt to name or set correct directions. I have no real issue with using JNF on areas otherwise sorted but at the moment scores are artificially inflated by this trend. Get proper editing people, please!

Rant over.
