Higher level editing - Requests

Postby YanisKyr » Tue Nov 04, 2014 5:22 pm

Hi guys, I think it's a good idea to keep such a thread open for any requests of this kind.

And to start with; turning from R132 to Stockhole Ln is not possible when driving northbound. Check this permalink http://j.mp/1uqCWMI :ugeek:

Hi Yanis,

Good idea. Some places (like the UK) have a dedicated subforum for unlock and update requests, but I think a single thread is enough (that's what they do in New Zealand, which is a similar size to us).

I've cleared the locks on this section of the R132, so you can go ahead and fix that UR.

I've left the rest of the locks in that area (around the airport) in place, because I think Arthur put them there while he's working on the area.

I have one suggestion for you Yanis: when you start a conversation on a UR to ask the reporter for more information, could you summarise the problem report for them, because all they see is a message on their phone and they might not remember what the problem was or where they reported it. Many reporters wouldn't be comfortable with the map editor.

I usually write something like this (it also makes clear to reporters that editors are volunteers, not Waze staff):

"Hi - this is a volunteer Waze map editor. Thanks for your report of the turn not allowed on the R132 near Stockhole Lane. Do you remember what turn was not allowed?"

...then, just before I close a UR, I write another message saying what I've done to fix the problem and mentioning that the change should take effect in the next few days.

Anyway, back to your original point: I'll start a new thread now for unlock and update requests. Thanks for the suggestion!

Alright - I've created a new thread here - use that for all future unlock and update requests.

I know what you mean about the comments, but I'm a practical mind so I'd go further down the explanation line in case they don't know :)

Great thread btw!

Hi,

You might want to get a moderator to sticky that new topic so it stays topmost. :)
